Wilfrid “Bill” Martin Gill, Jr., M.D. passed away on June 7, 2024 at the age of 87 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Bill was born on September 23, 1936 to Wilfrid and Regina Gill in Cleveland, Ohio. Beloved husband of 61 years to Janice (nee Pfeil) Gill. Loving father to Maura Elizabeth Gill, Wilfrid Martin Gill III (Michelle), Alison (nee Gill) Sherlock (Andrew). Adored grandfather to Riley, Madison, Wilfrid IV and Nicolas. Cherished brother of Mary Bowman (Harold deceased), Denis Gill (Alice), Timothy Gill (Faith), and Catherine (nee Gill) Halligan (deceased) (Robert also deceased). Bill was loving Uncle and a dear friend to many.
Bill graduated from St. Edward High School and then attended John Carroll University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to receive his medical degree from Marquette University. During his internship at Milwaukee County Hospital, he met his wife Janice, an ER nurse. Bill and Janice were married on June 15, 1963 in Milwaukee, WI. After completing his internship, Bill was drafted into the U.S Army and he and Janice were stationed in Germany for two years. After their return to the United States, they settled in Cleveland, OH where Bill completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic and became certified by the American Board of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. Bill established a private practice, Lakewood Radiology, where he integrated the latest technology in his field. While continuing to practice medicine, Bill joined the Ohio National Guard where he rose to the rank of Colonel (O-6) and also served as the Ohio State Surgeon. In 2016 Bill and Janice relocated to Scottsdale, AZ to be closer to their children and family. Bill's many adventures included flying, boating, fishing, skydiving, tactical pistol training and travel. We will miss his sense of humor and will always admire his strength and dedication.
A family service and final interment will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix at a future date.
