Donna L. Woods

February 5th, 1945 – April 7th, 2023

Donna L. Woods, 78, of Surprise, Arizona passed away on Friday, April 7th, 2023. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Alva and Opal Burke, the second child of two. Donna, a beloved Sister, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, was a force to be reckoned with. She was rough around the edges, telling you the hard truth, but soft and kind on the inside. Always willing to help her family, whether it be financial or moral support, never expecting anything in return. She was unintentionally funny, never having to try hard to make you crack a smile or just laugh out loud. When the grandkids would complain or pout “It’s not fair!,” she would counter with “Well, I want to be skinny, but life’s not fair.” with her hands on her hips just like Grandmas’ do. Out of all the hobbies one can have, Donna chose the one hobby that is the most “grandmotherly” thing you can think of, that’s right…crochet! She would always take her time to choose her next project, carefully selecting each fabric, style, and pattern. Her grandkids were always waiting for the next blanket they would receive on their birthday or for Christmas. It was a very welcomed sight and always a comfort to receive something made with her creativity and effort.  She may not have been a perfect person but she always tried her best to be everything we

needed from her and she definitely succeeded in that. She will be greatly missed but will remain in our hearts forever.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Alva & Opal Burke and her sister, Jackie Burke She is survived by her 4 children, LeeAnn Soria, Brenna Woods, Amy Moore & Morgan Woods; Niece, Allyson Burke Alberty; Grandchildren, Leandra Kana, Lea Gomez, LaSandra Soria, LaNessa Soria, Emilio Soria & Miranda Woods; and her Great-Grandchildren, Novalia Gomez & Isaiah Gomez.
